We came out with something new about our wallpaper: texture. It's not really something important but we thought it might add some reputatuion to overall outcome. We suggested several techniques such as
-gasso paint + sand n stone
-acrylic
-burning effect (like our mind mad)
-tied it to a frame
-spray
-kolaj, etc
But in the end, we decided to proceed with the following way. This is something we never tried before:
First we put our wallpaper on the road (Asphalt road), then we overlay it with layout pad and newspaper before we drive a car over it! So then we can have something like stone effect on it.
We haven't really try it before, so hope it really works well.

Long lost Mind Map
We suddenly realise that we haven't post our wallpaper mind map, that's suppost to be the first thing of everything. So we post now :p

We do it in this ancient treasure map style just simply because it look nice. The burning edges process in student launge made the whole place smooky... lucky the guard wasn't there.

Constructing Dark Room
We finally started to construct our "private darkroom". We do some simply and easy modification to the bathroom, that's how it goes.

Using those antique black card leaf over by the whole class in Design 2 Workshop (those you ask me to throw away in computer lab), we tape them into a large piece of combination.

Using a stairs to reach the roof and seal the whole window with the large antique black.

And to seal all those tiny little gap like ceiling, door...

This is where the coolest part comes: converting the ceiling light into red light. We use a very traditional yet effective way, the lantern paper.

Gotta add pretty much layers to make it.

And there it goes! Our private little darkroom. An extention plug will be pull into it for fan, hair dryer and light box. The darkroom is also equip with a bath tab, so after expose with light box, we can straight away washed it in the darkroom, WOW!

Stamping style
In the previous post, we mention about the retro stamp style, and we're gona apply it into our design. Our wallpaper layout will be something like that.
The "outline" graphic is the stamp border, so the whole thing will be like a newly purchase stamp.

Basically, we plan to make a A3 silkscreen in 4x4, and the whole wallpaper can fit 12 A3 silkscreen, therefore all together we'll have 16x12 small little stamp, plus some random size bigger stamp.
Rough calculation, a size of a small stamp will be 7.5x10.5 cm. Izit too small or can be smaller? And is the arrangement okay? Plz comment.

Tracing Techinique
After discussion, we came out with a special technique to trace our wallpaper.
It's bascially how chess board and puzzle work. We'll have several A3 size silkscreen with graphic, arrange in chessboard format.

And we'll have a few other silksreen in other random size. When tracing on wallpaper, we can randomly arrange the order, something like puzzle.

With this technique, we can freely trace them in any order, unlike normal duplicating and rotating.. and the color can be easily rearrange as well..
Plz left command whether u agree or u think can do any improvement or maybe u think it totally sucks.. we actually came out with this like 2 weeks ago but we din't post it. All 3 members in this group (Raymond, Vinsern, Suat Yee) does not own any blog, so we kinda like dun have the habbit and skill bla bla... Okay la instead of giving excuse, from now on we'll constantly update (actually oso until thursday only :p)

Our wallpaper design

Throughout my sketches, you can see my first beginning sketch from top to bottom .So, I’m trying to fill in the content, which is related to China with the stamp frame. Then, I also search a lot of stuffs of China in order to find my idea. But the main point is, I must put something which represents the china. Stone lion, it represents the China retro and I think this is quite suitable. It considered china history statue. After that, I add some pattern out of its mouth. It shows that how China influences the whole world nowadays.
The reason why we use China style as our retro theme is unique. Because many people will start to think about western retro and that is too common, what we want is something which is special and fresh. We also find out the some patterns of retro china stuffs are quite nice. However, I still think that it can be improved better instead of focusing on retro china. So, we actually frame it to make it looks like a stamp, an old style China stamp. The final outcome I had traced already and I put it at bottom.
Any comment please reply me as soon as possible. Thank you.

繁华一梦

This is my draft at photoshop. You can see that there is a 70s shang hai lady in the frame as this charming lady represent the bewitch of shang hai city.I use "fan hua yi meng "as my title because that means someone who indulge in persue wealth, fame and gain will found out that is just a burden for himself. This kind of frame will make it look more retro.by-sy

Retro stamp style
PO CHAI pills
I have a serious stomachache, so I reach for some PO CHAI pills.
As i was holding the box, i discovered that the graphic on the box are very suitable with our theme, the chinese retro.
Take note of the pattern around and the color scheme. The typeface is also written in traditional chinese. The writing start from right to left.
Red Street Brand Cigarette Ad poster

Red Street Brand Cigarette Ad poster
This Red Street cigarette company advertising poster depicts a lady dressed in an elaborate dress, with a cloak covering her shoulder, her curly short hair and white pearl necklace along with the rest of her attire indicating Western influence in the 1930 Shanghai era. The two sides of the poster had a short Chinese poem written on it, appraising the quality of cigarette.

The sitting monk poster is actually an advertisement for a calming medicine available in the thirties in China. This medicine supposedly had a very strong calming effect. As depicted in this advertisement, a monk is surrounded by seven scantily clad women and not tempted. The message is subtle but would have been clear to someone living at the time.
